EDWARD MAGNER - My Paternal 3x Great-Grandfather


Edward Magner was born on July 4, 1798 in Paris, Bourbon County, Kentucky.  His parents were John H. and Mary Margaret Magner.  Edward was the third of their eight children.

Edward died on September 14, 1865 in Orleans, Orange County, Indiana at the age of 67.  He was laid to rest in the Magner Cemetery in Orleans, Orange County, Indiana.

Edward's father, John Magner was born 1762 in Washington County, Pennsylvania.  He served in the Pennsylvania Ranger for the Frontier.  Patented land in Union Township, Washington County, Pennsylvania, 400 acres.  John died 1823 in Nicholas County Kentucky.

Edward's mother, Mary Margaret (maiden name unknown) was born 1767 in Washington County, Pennsylvania.  She died on March 22, 1841 in Fugit Township, Decatur, Indiana.


Edward Magner's, wife, Erma "Jane" Brown and Jane's Parents:

Erma Jane Brown was born October 17, 1796 in York, South Carolina. Her parents were Jane Farris and Archibald Brown.  Jane was one of 14 children.

Edward and Jane were wed on September 15, 1821 in Bourbon County Kentucky.  Jane's brother, Milton Brown was a witness of their marriage.  Their union was blessed with seven children; five sons and two daughters. 

Jane (Brown) Magner died on May 11, 1877 in Orleans, Orange County, Indiana at the age of 80.  She was buried in the Magner Cemetery in Orleans, Orange County, Indiana.

Jane's father, Archibald was born March 31, 1769 in Ireland to Mary Margarett and Archibald Magner.  In 1790, Archibald married Jane Farris in Northern Ireland.  Archibald died at the age of 93 on November 15, 1862 in Nicholas, Kentucky.

Jane's mother, Miss Jane Farris was also born in Ireland.  Her birth date is March 10, 1772.  She died on June 16, 1844 at the age of 72 in Concord, Kentucky.  She is buried at the Old Concord Church Cemetery, Nicholas, Kentucky.
