Zella was born and raised in Thayer, Kansas; married Ira L. Hizey in March 1927.  They lived in Parsons, Kansas where she worked at the Kansas Ordinance Plant during World War II.  She and Ira separated when he was in the Merchant Marines.  They had one daughter, Melvina Lee.  Zella moved to Argo, Illinois where she died at he age of 53 due to stomach cancer.
Note:  Ira Lester Hizey father's name is George Amos Hizey
