John Edward Magner, aged fifty-eight years, died at his home 2211 Washington, early this morning after an illness of several weeks from a complication of diseases. The funeral will be held from the First Baptist Church Thursday afternoon at two o'clock conducted by Dr. Fred Cochran and interment at Oakwood Cemetery.
Mr. Magner is survived by his wife, Mary, two sons, Walter Magner and Frank Magner; three daughters, Mrs. C.F. Hollar, Mrs. H.O. Armour and Mrs. Carl Davis, all of this city, also by one brother Sam Magner of Galesburg, Kansas and three sisters, Mrs. H.C. Rambo and Mrs. M. Van Cleave of Galesburg, and Mrs. H.E. Dunham of Stark, Kansas, all of whom will be in the city to attend the funeral.
Mr. Magner was born and raised in Indiana and moved with his family to this city about sixteen years ago. For some time he was employed at the (M.K. & T.) Missouri-Kansas-Texas Railroad shops, but for the past few years has been employed as a clerk in the grocery store of W.H. Franklin on West Crawford Avenue.
The family has resided on West Washington Avenue for the past six years. Mr. Magner was of a very quiet disposition, devoted to his home and family, and to the service of his friends, which he numbered by the score. He was a member of the First Baptist Church and his death will be a severe loss to the community.
