John Edward Magner was born May 7, 1862 in Orange County, Indiana.  Departed this life December 28, 1920 at Parsons, Kansas after an illness of several months.

 

He was united in marriage, December 21, 1882 to Mary C. Miller of Mitchell, Indiana.  To this union was born six children, five of whom survive him.  Mrs. A. Parker having died two years ago.

 

He moved to Galesburg, Kansas in 1883 and later to Parsons where he resided until his death.

 

He united with the Baptist Church of Galesburg, 33 years ago and on moving to Parsons, transferred his membership there.

 

He was a kind husband and father devoted to home and family, and esteemed by all who knew him.

 

He leaves to mourn his loss, his wife, Mary C. Magner, two sons; Walter and Frank, three daughters; Mrs. C.F. Hollar, Mrs. H.O. Armour and Mrs. Carl Davis and nine grandchildren, all of who reside here, one brother, S.B. Magner, three sisters, Mrs. H.C. Rambo, Mrs. M. Van Cleave of Galesburg and Mrs. H. Dunham of Stark, Kansas.

 

Funeral services were held at the Baptist Church and interment in Oakwood Cemetery.

 

"A precious one from us is gone.

A voice we love is still,

A place is vacant in our home

That never can be filled."
