Samuel Brown Magner

Samuel Brown Magner's Mother-in-Law, Elvina Fritz

Elvina met and married Christopher "Chris" Coist Boje, but the year remains unclear.  I will try to explain why the exact year is unknown.

On the 1930 Federal Census, Elvina answered the question as to her age of her 1st marriage  and said she was 17.  So I did a little math and came up with the year, 1865.

But her December 1938 obituary states she married Chris Boje in 1868.  I will continue to search for an Illinois marriage license to learn the 'correct' year of marriage.

Regardless of the marriage year, they had six children.  The 1900 Federal Census stated she had six children with five living in 1900.  Their daughter, Minnie died in 1874 at the age of one year, two months and six days old.

Chris Boje gave land to build the town of Galesburg, Kansas on October 10, 1871.

The 1880 US Federal Census, Christopher (age 41) and family were living in Centerville, Kansas - Neosho County.

The 1915 Kansas State Census, Elvina (Fritz) Boje (66) and son, Will (35) were living in Galesburg, Kansas - Neosho County.

Elvina's husband, Chris died young at the age of 43 in 1881 leaving his wife to raise five children including Samuel Brown Magner's wife, Etta Mae Boje.

Etta was the daughter of Elvina FRITZ and Christopher Coist Boje.  She was born February 4, 1891 in Thayer, Kansas - Neosho County.  She met and married Samuel Magner and raised a family in Galesburg, Kansas - Neosho County.

2/23/2017 Update:  A big thank you to Lisa VonLanken

Christopher Boje and Elvina Fritz were married on September 28, 1864 in Ottawa, Illinois - La Salle County.  The bride was 16 and the groom was 26 years old.
