DOUGLAS G. SPRINGER

Douglas G. Springer, 76, Galesburg died Thursday night at the Labette Medical Center at Parsons.  He had been ill since Sunday when he suffered a fractured hip.

Born September 28, 1893, at Chanute.  He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. John S. Springer.  He had lived in the Galesburg community since moving there with the family as a boy.

He married Audlene Magner April 30, 1919.

He was a member of the Galesburg Christian Church; a veteran of World War I and a member of the World War I Barracks of Chanute and the Erie American Legion.

Survivors include his widow, of the home; a daughter, Mrs. Larry (Neola Mae) Matson, Smith Center, Kansas; two sons, Jean Springer, Cherryvale, Kansas and Eldon Springer, Thayer, Kansas; 11 grandchildren and a great-grandchild and two sisters; Mrs. Rena Crumrine, Hazelton, Idaho and Mrs. J. B. Brown, Dearing, Kansas.

The funeral will be Sunday at 2 p.m. in the Galesburg Christian Church with the Rev. Allen Hannaford officiating.  Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery, Galesburg.

Pierce Funeral Home at Erie, Kansas is in charge.
