Samuel Brown Magner

Samuel and Etta (Boje) Magner Children

Daughter: Mildred Anna Magner

MILDRED ANNA MAGNER CLARK   (continued)

Mildred was active in church and community all of her life and made many friends wherever she lived.  But it was as a mother where she distinguished herself with her absolute faithfulness in time and spirit to the needs of her two children -- Marilyn and Burnill.  All through their childhood and school years she devoted herself to their welfare teaching the way of the Christian life by precept and example.

She knew disappointment and sorrow in life, having suffered from tuberculosis while the children were small.  She spent fifteen months in the hospital before a cure for that dreaded disease was discovered and developed.  Following Mildred's release from the hospital, she spent several years at home regaining her health.  In 1948 the family moved to Wheat Ridge, Colorado so that Mildred could benefit from a better climate.

In 1954, Fred and Mildred moved their family to a pastorate in Cheyenne, Wyoming.  This was followed by assignments in Greeley and Denver, Colorado.

They retired to the Seattle area in 1970 and bought a home in Lynnwood.  Fred served as Minister of Visitation at Edmonds United Methodist Church.  In 1980 Mildred and Fred moved to the Hearthstone Retirement Home on Greenlake.  Following Fred's death in 1982, Mildred continued to live at the Hearthstone until 1995.  She spent her final years in Edmonds Rehabilitation and the Morning Glory Adult Family Home.

A BIG thank you!
