JEAN D. SPRINGER
GROVE, OKLAHOMA -- Jean Douglas Springer, 78 of Grove, died Monday, December 4, 2000 at the Grove General Hospital.
He was born March 4, 1922 at Galesburg to Douglas Granville and Audlene Mae (Magner) Springer. He served in the United States Navy in Atlantic and Pacific campaigns, during World War II. He was a self-employed auto mechanic and a farmer.
He married Iris Imogene Crumrine on December 2, 1946 at Ketchum, Idaho. They moved to Grove in 1978 from Cherryvale, Kansas. She survives of the home.
He was a member of the Lions Club, Kiwanis Club, Veterans of Foreign Wars and was a deacon of the First Christian Church of Grove and Cherryvale.
Other survivors include two sons; Jerry Douglas Springer of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Scott Springer of Joplin, Missouri; one sister Neola M. Matson of Smith Center, Kansas; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
The service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home in Grove with Wayne Shaw officiating. There will be a graveside service at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Mount Hope Cemetery at Galesburg, Kansas.
