FRED CHARLES CLARK
July 7, 1905 November 11, 1982
Fred Charles Clark was born July 7, 1905 in St. Paul, Kansas. He graduated from high school in Erie, Kansas and received his A.B. Degree in 1935 from Kansas State Teacher's College in Pittsburg, Kansas. Reverend Clark received the Master of Theology Degree in 1938, from The Iliff School of Theology. In 1950 he earned the degree of Doctor of Theology from Iliff in Denver, Colorado.
Doctor Clark served Methodist churches in Kansas, Colorado and Cheyenne, Wyoming before becoming superintendent of the Greeley, Colorado District in 1961. From 1963 to 1966 he served as District Superintendent in Denver, Colorado. In 1966 Doctor Clark became Director of Field Education for The Iliff School of Theology. During his forty- three years in the ministry, Doctor Clark served on numerous boards and agencies. He was a Thirty-Second Degree Mason and a Rotarian. Upon retirement from the Rocky Mountain Conference in 1970, the Clarks moved to Lynnwood, Washington.
From 1970 to 1975 Doctor Clark served as Minister of Visitation for the Edmonds United Methodist Church. Since moving to the Hearthstone Retirement Home in July 1981, Sand Point has been Fred and Mildred's church home.
Fred was the son of Charlie and Winifred Clark. He was the second of five children. His sister Cleora Neely makes her home in Chapman, Kansas. Fred has two brothers who are retired Methodist ministers: Doctor Alva Clark, living in Omaha, Nebraska; and Reverend Leonard Clark who resides in Thayer, Kansas. His brother Lloyd Clark is deceased.
Fred and Mildred Anna Magner were married on Christmas Day, 1933. To this union were born two children, Marilyn Clark Kraft and Burnill Fred Clark. Marilyn is married to Kenneth A. Kraft. They are parents of Karla Kraft Clogston and Linda Marie Kraft. Burnill is the husband of Diane Rae (Oswald) Clark. Their three daughters are Michelle Rae, Marcie Diane and Melissa Esther Clark. Gifts in memory of Doctor Clark may be given to the Sand Point or Edmonds United Methodist Churches.
