AUDLENE SPRINGER
GALESBURG -- Audlene Springer, 94, a life-long resident of the Galesburg area, died early today, September 7, 1990 at the Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Parsons, Kansas. She had been in failing health for several years and a resident of the nursing home since October 1985.
The daughter of Samuel B. and Etta M. (Boje) Magner, she was born June 14, 1896 in her parent's home in rural Galesburg. She grew up in Galesburg and attended school at the Sandy Hill Country School southeast of Galesburg and also the Chanute Business College. Prior to her marriage she was employed as a secretary by the Shaw Manufacturing Company.
On April 30, 1919, she was married to Douglas G. Springer at her home in rural Galesburg. He preceded her in death May 7, 1970.
She was a member of the Galesburg Christian Church and in earlier years had been very active in church's quilting group, the Ladies Aide group and other church activities. She was also a member of the Home Demonstration Unit in Galesburg and the World War I Barracks in Chanute.
Survivors include two sons, Jean Springer, Grove, Oklahoma and Eldon Springer, Thayer, Kansas; a daughter, Neola Matson, Smith Center, Kansas; a sister, Mildred Anna Clark, Seattle, Washington; 11 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers.
Funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at the Galesburg Christian Church with the Rev. David Neiss officiating. Burial will be in the Mount Hope Cemetery at Galesburg.
Friends may call at the Burris-Carson-Wall Funeral Home in Parsons anytime after 10 a.m. Saturday or from 12:30 p.m. until funeral time Sunday. Memorials may be made to the church.
